Watch live: In-flight call with ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet
On Tuesday 1 June, teachers and students from France, Estonia, and Austria will connect live with ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, currently living and working on the International Space Station (ISS). Join the livestream!
Teachers will be asking questions directly to Thomas Pesquet around the theme of Sustaining space: recycling resources. A livestream of the entire event, including the introductions from each country before the in-flight call, can be viewed below.
The livestream will start at 14:18 CEST. The inflight call will start at around 14:45 CEST and will last 20 minutes.
National events are being organised by the local European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO)s: ESERO France, ESERO Estonia, and ESERO Austria. Live connections will be made with French space agency CNES in Toulouse, the Tartu Observatory, and the VEGA observatory Haus der Natur in Salzburg, connecting with primary and secondary school teachers and students across the respective countries.
The in-flight call with Thomas Pesquet is part of a wide range of educational activities delivered by ESA and the ESERO project across Europe. Currently, there are ESEROs operating in 18 ESA Member States. ESA’s ESERO project is a collaboration between ESA, national space agencies and national and local educational partners.
The ESERO project is ESA's main way of supporting the primary and secondary education community in Europe. ESERO uses space related themes and the genuine fascination felt by young people for space to enhance school pupils’ literacy and competence in STEM-related subjects via activities that include national training for teachers and classroom resources tailored to national curricula. The ESERO project also highlights the associated applications from space and raises awareness of the wide range of career prospects in the space domain.
