N° 20–2023: Media Invitation: Kick-off event for the Huginn mission in Copenhagen, Denmark

Media representatives are invited to the Huginn mission kick-off event with Danish ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen on the 22 May, between 14:00 and 16:00 CEST. Activities in Denmark linked to his mission will be introduced at Industriens Hus, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Andreas will meet His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark. He will also meet Christina Egelund, Danish Minister of Higher Education and Science, David Parker, ESA’s Director of Human and Robotic Exploration and several industry representatives and key people behind Rumrejsen 2023.

The mission kick-off event will also include the opening of the Danish exhibition ‘Jobs in the Space Industry’ which highlights the career paths of Danish apprentices working in space industry. The exhibition will be exposed at trade and career fairs around Denmark during Andreas’s mission to the ISS.

At the event and exhibition stand project manager Henrik Helsgaun and exhibition developer Tina Dalhoff from science center Experimentarium, will showcase technical artifacts that can be experienced at five exhibitions in Denmark as well as at a wide range of different events all over Denmark.

Andreas will embark on his Huginn mission later this summer, travelling to the International Space Station as the first non-US pilot on SpaceX Crew Dragon. Andreas will stay for approximately six months on the Station conducting science and representing Europe in space.

14:00 – Welcome and introduction by moderator and journalist Anders Høeg Nissen.

14:05 – Speeches by Director of Danish Industry, Lars Sørensen, Minister of Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund, ESA Director of Human and Robotic Exploration David Parker and chair of Rumrejsen’s steering committee and vice chancellor of DTU, Rasmus Larsen.

14:30 – Speech by ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen about his training and mission

14:40 – Speech by Professor John Jørgensen and Senior Scientist Peter Thejll about two of the Danish experiments on the Huginn mission.

14:50 – Speech by Director of House of Natural Sciences, Maiken Lolck, Director of Astra, Mikkel Bohm and Programme Manager of Experimentarium, Sheena Laursen, about the different Rumrejsen projects.

15:00 – Official opening.

15:05 – Photo opportunity.

15:10 – Visit to Exhibition Area.

15:45 – End of event.
