N° 21–2026: Media invitation: ESA at Berlin International Air Show, ILA 2026

4 May 2026

Journalists are invited to attend the Berlin International Airshow  (ILA) taking place 10-14 June 2026 at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) , and to engage with European Space Agency leadership, astronauts and experts during the event.

Under this year's slogan ‘Space4Future’, the ILA Space Pavilion will highlight the growing importance of space for the future of our society. The pavilion is coordinated by three partners: BDLI, the German Aerospace Industries Association; DLR, the German space agency; and ESA under the patronage of BMFTR, the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.

Alongside ESA representatives, ministries, agencies, aerospace companies and scientific experts will convene in panels and events to discuss the key themes of Imagine, Autonomy and Resilience, Exploration and Discovery, Technology and Operations, and Planet and Climate.

Throughout the five-day event, an immersive exhibition at the ILA Space Pavilion located in Hall B will serve as a platform to present the latest programmes, missions and technologies in the European space sector. An extensive programme of sessions awaits thousands of professional attendees on the first three days, while the final two days will be open to the public.

Media opportunities

ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher, as well as a number of ESA Directors and ESA astronauts, will be on site, speaking at events and available for interviews.

A full timetable of media activities, together with practical details and additional information, will be shared later in May.

The event programme will be updated over the coming weeks.

Accreditation

Journalists wishing to attend ILA Berlin must register for media accreditation via the ILA Berlin website: ILA - Messe Berlin.

About the European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) provides Europe’s gateway to space.

ESA is an intergovernmental organisation, created in 1975, with the mission to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space delivers benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.

ESA has 23 Member States: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia are Associate Members.

ESA has established formal cooperation with three Member States of the EU. Canada takes part in some ESA programmes under a Cooperation Agreement.

By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, ESA can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. It is working in particular with the EU on implementing the Galileo and Copernicus programmes as well as with Eumetsat for the development of meteorological missions.
