Meet German start-up S4 Space at the  10th ESA Investment Forum in ESOC 31 January 2019 to learn how they will integrate "smart" sensors into turnkey and scalable platform solutions that brings the Internet of Things (IoT) into different areas of life through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud-based technology, and accessible from everywhere.

With the help of micro-satellites a high-speed support infrastructure will be created with worldwide coverage even where mobile network services, like the emerging 5G network, is not available.

The S4 Space AG is developing solutions which integrate innovative technology to respond to customer specific needs.

The first two companies have been identified in the field of logistics and water technology. The first company has established an IoT business and started the initial work on integrating AI and Cloud operations. This technology will help the second company to scale and digitize their water business with IoT sensors.

This general platform, developed by S4 Space, is open for applications in other business areas.

At the same time, S4 Space is preparing a separate network based on LEO microsatellites, thus creating a global technology platform for IoT sensors and other elements.

This can provide turn-key solutions to customers with individual IoT sensors, tailor-made connectivity to the Cloud, AI and a plug&play integration into their own system infrastructure.

Investment Needs
S4 Space will be selling two million shares priced between €1.50-€2.50 to further develop the company business.

The investments will be used to initial set-up the infrastructure for a next generation satellite-based communication system (5G), primarily with allocations for software development, 5-7 FTE, incidental M&A costs and incidental IPO costs.

10th ESA Investment Forum
S4 Space will participate to the 10th ESA Investment Forum 31 January 2019.

The ESA Investment Forum is an ESA space solutions event organized by ESA Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) Hessen and Baden-Württemberg in partnership with with High-Tech Gründerfonds Management GmbH and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (DLR)

The aim is to foster investments in start-ups operating in the space domain as well as within related application domains, downstream as well as upstream. It provides a platform for networking as well as matchmaking between innovative space start-ups and investors.

ESA BICs - World's largest ecosystem for space-related entrepreneurship

The ESA Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) Hessen and Baden-Württemberg is part of the ESA space solutions network of 20 ESA BICs throughout Europe.

The centres are operated under ESA’s Technology Transfer and Business Incubation Programme Office (TTPO) with the European network of Technology Transfer Brokers. Together they offer access to all aspects of space-related innovation, technology and intellectual properties and is a gateway to ESA and European space research and developments.

The 20 ESA BICs in 17 European countries – Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and UK – are forming the largest ecosystem in the world for space-related entrepreneurship. The 21th centre is soon to open in Northern Germany and more centres are already under preparation.

Over 700 start-ups have been fostered and another near 180 new start-ups are taken in yearly at the ESA BICs to be supported under the two-years business development boosting programme.
