Team 1055 – micro-b

00 – This morning we woke up to sweat-drenched sheets and cold showers. The first order of business in the day was to examine the various welts and blood-swelled bumps of skin left from a hot, sticky night spent in the company of mosquitoes and other creatures living in the cracks and folds of the dormitory mattress.

00 – The morning was spent in the laboratory, preparing cyanobacterial cultures and test slides. With the experiment loaded in the plane, we performed trial runs of the experiment. No significant problems were encountered.

00 – Lunch consisted of microwaveable meals and supplementary prepackaged consumables. Being unable to eat at the tables indoors, we were ushered outside where we were graciously allowed to enjoy our meal while basking in the afternoon sun on the parking lot pavement.

00 – Final adjustments to the experiment procedure were made, and drawn up by the biological team so that the remaining members of the flight squad could be briefed on the final mission procedure on the morning of 15 July.

00 – The team joined Team Lotus Shower for an evening at La Dune du Pyla, a moderately sized sand dune on the Atlantic Coast. This excursion was followed by a packed-like-sardines tram ride to watch the Bastille Day fireworks.
