AMS-2 at ESTEC

The Large Space Simulator (LSS) in the at ESA’s research and technology centre, ESTEC, in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, is used to test satellites and spacecraft before they are sent to space. It has seen all kinds of space hardware, but the AMS detector was a very special one.

Endeavour leaves Space Station

Space Shuttle Endeavour undocked from the Space Station on Monday morning at 03:55 GMT after being docked to the orbital outpost for almost 12 days. The STS-134 mission will end on Wednesday at 06:32 GMT with a landing at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

DAMA name and logo

Elementary and middle school students all over Italy were challenged to come up with a name and logo for Roberto Vittori's mission aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour. More than 2000 suggestions from around 200 schools were received.

Last Shuttle with ESA astronaut lifts off to Space Station to hunt ‘dark matter’

ESA PR 14 2011 - Space Shuttle Endeavour lifted off today on her last mission to the International Space Station. Following launch of the STS-134 mission at 12:56 GMT (14:56 CEST), Endeavour is heading towards a docking with the Station at 10:15 GMT (12:15 CEST) on Wednesday, 18 May.
