The Radio Science Subsystem (RSS) uses radio antennas on Earth to observe the way radio signals from the spacecraft change as they are sent through materials, such as Titan's atmosphere or Saturn's rings, or even behind the Sun.

RSS uses radio receivers and transmitters at three different wavelengths. This gives detailed information on the structure of the planet's rings and atmosphere.
