ESA produces several reports that document its commitments, research and progress on sustainability, both as a public institution and as a space agency. Together, these publications offer a record of the agency’s accountability across institutional governance, space environment stewardship, and innovation in service of sustainable development.

Since 2009 ESA has published a comprehensive sustainability report documenting the agency’s progress across all dimensions of its sustainability strategy. With these reports ESA holds itself accountable to Member States, industry partners and the public, while establishing a model for sustainability reporting in the space sector.

Since 2017, ESA's Space Debris Office has published an annual Space Environment Report, It provides a transparent overview of global space activities and assesses how effectively international debris-mitigation measures are improving the long-term sustainability of spaceflight.
ESA's Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) programme accelerates the transformation of innovative ideas into market-ready, space-enabled services and applications that deliver measurable socioeconomic impact. Since 2010, BASS has supported European businesses across sectors, helping them de-risk and commercialise solutions that use space data and technology in service of sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Zero Debris approach is ESA's bold goal to significantly limit the production of debris in Earth and Lunar orbits by 2030 for all future missions, programmes and activities.
A strategic approach to the space resources opportunity, to enable sustainable human exploration in a way that seeks to optimise the terrestrial benefits, build a community and prepare a way to sustained and cost effective exploration in the future.
