This animation contains a selection of artwork submitted to us in response to ESA's invitation to "Picture Mars". With Europe about to go to Mars, we wanted to see your ideas on how you imagine the Red Planet.
"I want to illustrate my idea about Mars exploration. The hand on the picture stands not only for the work but also for the mind of man, who, with their jobs and passion, can get to know the red planet's potentiality and its secrets", writes one of the round 1 winners, Carmelo Magnafico. "The planet is not dominated by the hand but only carefully touched. I hope that men will never see Mars as a land to exploit...but take it as a beautiful unexplored border for human technical and intellectual growth."
