2025 marked a year of major milestones for the European Space Agency: ESA's 50th anniversary and the launch of our long-term roadmap, Strategy 2040, built around five goals:

Protect our Planet and Climate
Explore and Discover
Strengthen European Autonomy and Resilience
Boost Growth and Competitiveness
Inspire Europe

Among others, highlights of the year included the launches of Proba-3 and Sentinel-1C, the first artificial solar eclipse created in orbit, and the Euclid mission's first data release capturing hundreds of thousands of galaxies. ESA also celebrated 30 years of satellite navigation and expanded its startup incubation network across Europe.
