Augmented reality promises astronauts instant medical knowhow
 
6 February 2012   A new augmented reality unit developed by ESA can provide just-in-time medical expertise to astronauts. All they need to do is put on a head-mounted display for 3D guidance in diagnosing problems or even performing surgery.
T4MOD: Remote Assistance for Medical Teams Deployed Abroad

Kicked-off in November 2011, the T4MOD project aims at defining, developing, qualifying and validating a user friendly Telemedicine system, through an interoperable IP overlay satellite network associated to an intelligent end-to-end communication platform, capable to support different medical specialities such as echography or surgery.
