In this Seminar presented at the 40th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of the Environment (ISRSE-40), Dr Thais Rosan from the University of Exeter explores how satellite data from the ESA Climate Change Initiative (CCI) is advancing our understanding of carbon fluxes and improving emissions assessments—a critical step toward informed, data-driven climate action.
Drawing from current research and real-world applications, the session highlights the role of Earth observation in refining carbon budgets, modelling emissions from land-use change and fires, and identifying opportunities for carbon sequestration, especially in secondary forests.
