Seeing farther into the Universe than ever before
The James Webb Space Telescope (Webb) will follow Hubble as the next great space science observatory designed to answer outstanding questions about the Universe and to make breakthrough discoveries in all fields of astronomy. It will look farther and deeper into the Universe than ever before, to the first stars and galaxies; it will study exoplanets, and closer to home will also look at our own Solar System in new light. Webb is an international partnership between NASA, ESA and CSA. The mission will launch on an Ariane 5 from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.
