  • Where can I find more information on the Aurora Programme and the Aurora student design contest?
The Aurora website contains information about Aurora and links to the student design contest.

  • Can projects be submitted in any format?
No, all projects should be submitted in PDF format.

  • Can the list of team members be changed?
Yes, a team can make small changes in the membership of the team as long as the number of members does not exceed six (including, and not more than, one PhD student). However, the majority of team members should remain the same.

Teams composed of less than six members at the time of the project outline submission can fill the remaining vacancies with additional members.

  • Will there be more details coming up on the website?
Yes, the frequently asked questions page will be updated every once in a while. Furthermore all new information on the contest (including the final prizes and the venue of the Aurora Student Design Contest Event) will be posted on the Aurora website.

  • Besides having to hand in the project in PDF format are there any other restrictions, e.g. font type and size?
ESA does not have any specific requirements for the formatting of the documents, but does expect the final reports to be presented in a professional manner by the competing teams.

  • How many other teams have been selected?
There will be 54 teams competing in the contest. The five categories: Flagship missions, Arrow missions, human missions, surface robotics and new enabling technologies all received a very good response.

  • Do the 20 pages include graphs, tables, schematics, etc?
Yes, the 20 pages include all the material submitted.

  • Are graphs, schematics and tables allowed in the executive summary?
In the executive summary we expect to be informed fully on the project in a few pages. If a team believes that a graph can be used as a tool to better understand their project then the team may put it in the executive summary.
